About Angela

I offer gentle Dru Yoga classes and a welcoming space to explore slow mindful yoga. Classes are suitable for all levels - beginners are warmly encouraged as well as seasoned yogis, or those returning to yoga after a break. Since we are all unique, I love to offer lots of options that work for different bodies and abilities.

I teach weekly yoga classes in Baulkham Hills, with an emphasis on wellbeing, unwinding from stress and worries, and bringing ease in everyday movement. I value compassion and warmth, and my classes offer an intentional window of self care and connection in an otherwise busy week.

I am an Occupational Therapist with a background working in community mental health. I have been practicing yoga for almost ten years, after discovering the benefits yoga brought to my life while managing a busy career, health challenges and family responsibilities. I decided to deepen my yoga practice by joining the Dru Yoga teacher training course and since then I have been drawn to sharing my passion for Dru Yoga with others.

What is Dru Yoga?

Dru Yoga is an inclusive and accessible form of yoga. It is often referred to as ‘yoga of the heart’ and allows an opportunity for profound healing. Dru Yoga merges ancient wisdom with modern insights. Postures and sequences are rooted in ancient practice, yet they are crafted with the most up-to-date practices from health, physiotherapy and neuroscience. Dru Yoga is based on a foundation of safety, effectiveness and accessibility.

The word ‘Dru’ comes from the Sanskrit word “dhruva” which refers to the North Star, a fixed point in the sky. The North Star is traditionally used for navigation purposes because it remains fixed in the sky while other stars appear to move around it. Using the North Star as a metaphor, the fixed point symbolises the inner stillness that Dru Yoga can help people to access within themselves, a place of inner calm, even during flowing movements, despite the inevitable ups and downs of everyday life.

In a Dru Yoga class you will find traditional yoga poses, breath work and wonderfully revitalising relaxations. You will also find that classes show you how to prepare your body and warm up for poses as well as shift your mindset to enhance both mental and emotional wellbeing. Each class includes a gentle ‘energy block release’ which is a sequence of carefully designed movements that work systematically through the body to release tension and clear energy blockages.
